The Big Guys Can't Stand When The Little Guys Win Once In A While
-
By practically every measure, remote work has been a success. It's clear to most that productivity has been strong and employees are happy. So why are some prominent CEOs, like JP Morgan Chase's Jamie Dimon and Goldman Sachs' David Solomon, insisting that remote workers are not as committed to success as people coming into the office? I'm gonna go with power, as in it's easier to exert power over your underlings when you stick them in cubicles all day than when they're away from your constant gaze. Also, remote work is a positive thing for workers, and some CEOs can't stand ANY "giveaways" to their employees or have such a low opinion of their staff that they can't abide by anything that benefits the rank and file other than what's absolutely necessary (see, for example, the whining by businesses about the "labor shortage" that really amounts to the companies not willing to pay fair wages and workers finally telling them to shove their minimum wages).
