Go Away, We're Busy

Remember when offices and stores had "suggestion boxes"? And remember your suspicion that nobody ever read any of those suggestions? Well, if you complain to the U.S. Department of Transportation about an airline's failure to refund money for canceled flights, it turns out that they'll ignore your complaints. The DOT has been swamped with complaints that the airlines are refusing to refund money for flights canceled in the pandemic, as they were supposed to do, and the DOT's response is to do practically nothing. Other than a fine against Air Canada, the most the DOT has done is to issue vague warnings, and all they say now is that they're still investigating, which is ridiculous. If you complain to a government agency, they should at least swiftly follow up. Or are we asking too much of them? (Wall Street Journal)
