I Got A $5 Walgreens Gift Card. Didn't Matter, Either

Some states, including the one I'm in at the moment, trued to get people to get vaccinated by holding lotteries with cash prizes. Effective? Nope, says a study. No correlation between the cash prizes and vaxx rates. Maybe one reason was tha you couldn't really even tell you were entered in a cash lottery; it was unclear who qualified, and how (there was no entry mechanism other than to be on the state's vaccinated list, and they didn't make that clear, either). That's troubling, if yu look at it as people not being willing to get the shot even with a chance to win big money. But maybe small money would have done better: Just pay everyone who got a shot a few hundred bucks and I bet that would have worked. (CNBC)
