The premise of David Lazarus' column about eyeglasses is that they're way too expensive and dominated by a monopoly which owns most of the frame makers and optical stores, and you don't even know who makes the most important part, the lenses. So, why? (Because they can.) And shouldn't glasses be covered by health insurance like any other disability appliance? (Yes.) (Los Angeles Times)
