More illustration that home ownership is out of reach of a lot of Americans: In October, you'd need to make $107,281 to afford a home at a median mortgage payment of $2,682/month for what Redfin calls a "typical home." Things have gotten way out of whack, but that's the market. What should be done about it? Limit the role of investment companies in buying property? Limit rentals, which would raise a lot of other problems? Or nothing? (CNBC)
