Now It's Like Just Another Class
-
A school in a gang-ridden neighborhood in Little Rock was having problems with kids being too violent and aggressive at recess. The solution: a recess coach who organizes them into small groups playing traditional games and resolving arguments with rock-paper-scissors. Seems like it was necessary, but if I'd had to play organized games during recess, I'd have been really bummed. Recess was the one moment during the day -- and maybe the last time in our lives -- when we felt relatively free of structure.
