Princeton Without The Dinky Wouldn't Be Princeton
-
Princeton's in an uproar over a threat to kill off the Dinky. The what? See, Princeton's a couple of miles from the big Amtrak/NJ Transit train station, and to get from the campus or Nassau Street, you have to take a one car shuttle train, perhaps the shortest/smallest commuter passenger train in America (I don't think Angel's Flight in L.A. qualifies). That's the Dinky. Officials want to replace it with a bus, saying that it'll be cheaper and cover more of the city, plus -- real agenda -- the school wants the train station moved so they can build something there. But the Dinky is a local institution, and it works. Why kill off something that does the job just fine?
