Just Give Me The Money And Leave The Farm Alone
-
There's a tiny border crossing between Vermont and Quebec that practically nobody uses, and the customs office is basically a shack on a two-lane road crossing a family farm. But the federal government wants to spend $8 million on a new expanded building and needs to take the farm to do it. And the family who owns the farm doesn't want to sell and doesn't understand why the government is insisting that it needs to redo the crossing that nobody uses. But the answer is obvious: There's $8 million of taxpayers' money to spend and, by gosh, they're going to spend it whether it's necessary or not.
