It's Happening In America
-
This lawyer has been in jail 14 months. He's in for contempt. There's no release date in sight. It's all indefinite. What did he do? He just kept appealing every case on the grounds that the judges are corrupt. Here's the weird part: He may be a crank, but he has a point. See, in Los Angeles County, unlike anyplace else in the country, judges get paid not only by the state -- almost $200,000 a year -- but get a $50,000 bonus payment directly from the county because it's expensive to live here (although no other city where it's expensive to live does this). And he thinks that because the county leaders pay the judges that little bump, the judges are unlikely to rule against the county in cases before them. And the stats indicate exactly that: The county practically always wins. So, when the judicial system is broken, where does one find justice?
