These Things Don't Have To Turn Into Federal Cases, You Know
-
Every year, we get stories about homeowner associations banning the American flag on Memorial Day, and this year's no different. A Wisconsin veteran is battling his apartment building managers and has been told that he must remove the flag after Memorial Day. I can see both sides here: There's nothing wrong with flying the flag to commemorate special days and events, but if there's a general aesthetic rule that you know about when you move in, it's hard to argue that you shouldn't have to abide by it. Still, come on, Memorial Day comes with the flag, and so do several other major holidays. Letting someone fly the Stars and Stripes doesn't hurt anyone.
