Your Money's No Good Here

In New York, some private schools wanted to build and refurbish sports fields on Randall's Island off Manhattan, so they proposed to pay $52.6 million to do it. And public school parents, "community groups," and park advocates objected and sued, because, you know, those private schools shouldn't get special access to public land. So the city turned the private schools down. And the city built fields with tax money. And the private schools now use those fields for free. The city COULD have saved $52.6 million for the same result. (New York Times)
