There's No Escaping Cheesy Local Ads Anymore

One of the big sales points for cable against satellite TV is that satellite couldn't deliver all the local programming cable can. Then satellite started carrying all the local broadcast stations, but the cable people were still the only ones who could run local ads in national cable network programming. Now, DirecTV has technology to insert local ads into satellite programming, and that's a big deal. Now, cable's advantage is mostly that it can deliver broadband, and if and when Wimax and LTE become usable for home connections, we may be looking at a very different competitive field for TV service.
