This Economy Stinks
-
A butcher went bankrupt. The bank, or someone, was supposed to take control of the company's assets, but nobody stepped forward to claim one particular asset: A trailer full of meat. And without anyone claiming it, the meat... rotted. A lot. It sat there since December, and the neighbors had to put up with the smell while nobody stepped forward to clean it up. Finally, the health district did it, and, yes, it was Maggot Central. It was probably one of the most horrific-smelling places you can imagine. And now they're trying to figure out who pays, and who to blame for the illegal wasting of game meat. But the thing is, with all the foreclosures nationwide and the disinterest by some lenders in keeping the foreclosed properties in shape, there must be some awful scenes in kitchens and refrigerators in those places. If you own hazmat equipment, you might have a good business in coming years just cleaning that stuff up. (Reno Gazette-Journal)
