Not Quite The Help They Were Hoping For
-
The guy applied for political asylum and was turned down. Meanwhile, he met and married an American, and the whole matter ended up in limbo; he finished school bit couldn't even accept a job while awaiting the government's decision on a green card. So his wife wrote a letter to Obama asking for help. The result: The feds came in and arrested the husband to deport him. A letter to the President isn't supposed to result in another agency arresting anyone, and they're now trying to explain why the White House would have turned the letter over to ICE. Moral: Keep your mouth shut and your profile low. (New York Times)
