The One Person Who LIKES Her School Portrait, And They're Giving Her A Hard Time?
-
Ceara Sturgis is a lesbian high school student in Jackson, MS, straight A's, in the band, on the soccer team, well-liked. And when it came time for the senior portraits, she did what she always does, wear masculine clothes, in this case a tux rather than the customary girls' drape. And the school refused to include the picture in the yearbook. This is because... um... well, there's absolutely no rational reason for the school to make that call, but it did, and, yes, a lawsuit awaits. The yearbook is for the students, the students don't have a problem with her, so why is the school doing this? And what's to be gained by making her look in her portrait how she didn't look in everyday school life?
