Where The F Is Arroyo Seco?
-
For decades, since before most folks who use it were born, the stretch of the 110 Freeway north of Los Angeles has been called the Pasadena Freeway, because a) it goes to Pasadena and b) it's a freeway. But now, after a renovation, the road is being renamed to its original designation, the Arroyo Seco Parkway. This honors the road as the region's oldest freeway (it opened in 1940). But nobody knows it by that name, and nobody really knows where "Arroyo Seco" is. It's a freeway, it goes to Pasadena, it had a name that made that clear. Now, it doesn't. (Los Angeles Times)
