The Class War continues, as a Chicago alderman, working hard to block Walmart from opening a store within the city limits, claims that the CEO of Walmart makes more in an hour than his employees earn in a year. His numbers are off, but even if they weren't, so what? Is the alderman suggesting that a greeter or cashier deserves the same salary as the person responsible for the entire multi-billion-dollar business? Of course not, but he wants the gap to be narrower. But who's going to make the call of what's excessive? We're talking about a Fortune 1 company, a massive multi-national endeavor. And if competing companies are paying those kind of salaries, what do you expect a CEO will want? (ABC News)
