Would A Sock Tree Be Safer?
-
A tree in northern Idaho became a landmark as the "Shoe Tree," a tree onto which countless pairs of shoes had been nailed by people over the years. We're talking about it in past tense, because it burned down, and the burning was accelerated by the shoes themselves. All those soles provided literal fuel for the fire. They're hoping people won't try to create a new "Shoe Tree," because it would likely meet the same fate. (Spokane Spokesman-Review)
