E-readers -- especially, of course, the iPad -- are making some folks feel like the entire concept of a book is being redefined. Now that you can put video and animation and other effects in there with the text, they reason, why WOULDN'T you? But isn't a book a creative product entirely different from, say, video? Would the classics have been better had they been able to insert a cartoon or sound effects? If that's the case, why write? Why not just produce videos instead? (Los Angeles Times)
