The Real Unelected Government
-
How tightly do unions control our politicians? In California, where public workers' pensions are the primary cause of the state's impossible budget mess, an attempt at reform by preventing "spiking" -- getting a huge boost in the last year of working by collecting unused vacation and sick time, then having the pension based on that inflated number -- was watered down by a pile of amendments added at the unions' behest. The bill was so neutered that the sponsor pulled his own support. The legislators are so bought and paid for it's scary. And your legislators, wherever you are, are bought and paid for, too.
