Mom, You Don't Have To Take Notes In Class For Me
-
Colleges are addressing the phenomenon of parents who just can't seem to let their kids go when it's time to start classes with a new way to deal with the separation: the "parting ceremony," a formal thing where parents walk out and the gates are closed. And some hold a reception for parents only so that they can get the 'rents out of the kids' hair. Parents have more options -- Skype, texting -- to stay in touch with their college-age kids than ever, so colleges have to find ways to enforce the kids' independence. (New York Times)
