No Pink Or Blue For You, Son. From Now On, Plaid
-
What do you do if your young son seems to identify with girl things? If he wants to wear his hair long and play with dolls and wear pink, do you let him or try to change that behavior? Same for your, say, 3-year-old daughter refusing to wear skirts and only playing with boys; change or let alone? And if the kid is that young, does it really signify anything or could it be just a phase? Of course, this whole discussion has two other sub-issues: one, whether you really have any say in your child's gender identification, and two, the controversy over treating a toddler as having gender identity disorder when they might change over time.
