Baltimore is spending millions to demolish the "Highway to Nowhere," a stretch of U.S. 40 that was built in the 70's and was never finished. In the interim, they pretty much destroyed a neighborhood by dividing it for the road that just came to an abrupt end where the money ran out. I mention this because you're seeing the federal government proposing a lot of road and train projects right now, and when they do that, there's always a chance that you'll end up with another road to nowhere. When the spenders start spending, they have a tendency not to focus on whether what they're buying is necessary. (Baltimore Sun)
