If It Isn't Free, I'm Not Going

Here's a sharp analysis by Darren Rovell of CNBC on the plummeting value of season tickets to sports events. Used to be that you could divide up the PSL and the price of the tickets and still come out ahead when you figured in that you'd want to see a certain number of games and could sell the rest. No more: Prices up, resale value way down, and, well, it's better in front of the HDTV at home, and if you want to see games, go buy just the games you want on StubHub or some other resale . Seriously, I used to go to a lot of games and dreamed of having season tickets for every sport; now, unless I HAVE to go for work, I'd rather watch at home, either on the big plasma screen or on the computer or iPod Touch while I work. Based on the shocking number of empty seats on the club level at the New York Giants' opener at the new stadium, I'm not alone. (CNBC)
