Interesting dilemma faced by suburban towns: Their aging population means that a lot of what they spent a lot of money to build and maintain, like schools and parks, are now less relevant. Do they sell off properties, cut jobs, and shut down services if there are fewer kids and young families? What happens when young people come back? Should they reallocate resources to senior services? I think the main issue is transportation, because if you're a senior and can't drive anymore, and you live in a suburb, you're stuck unless there's an effective dial-a-ride program for you.
