Quick Ideas With Big Impact
September 4, 2012
Have an opinion? Add your comment below. This really does work for time spent listening. Kicking off in the morning show, announce 3 numbers, and listeners are encouraged to use a specially designed bingo card to track the numbers against their own mobile number as they are announced. Continue to announce numbers on air each hour until you get your first caller to have "BINGO" - the person who has all of the numbers in their mobile phone number called out on-air.

This week a heap of ideas to go....all easy and quick to implement.
Importantly, executed well, all these will impact and cut through.

- Ways to revive your screwed up relationship.
The ''Morning Show Team Challenge''
This is great for getting to know your morning show team....
Listeners nominate the perfect ''challenge'' for all members of the team. (We are after the perfect challenge that reflects personality)
This is done via social networking/web etc.
From all suggestions, the team selects each other's challenge- The teasing
- Pre-promotion
- Accepting listener ideas
- Countdown to the selection
- The selection
- Preparing for the challenges
- The challenges...how are things going???(the soap opera)
- The payoff
The Black Box .....
.........on a crane......guess the prize and win it.
Great for awareness.Mobile Phone Bingo
This really does work for time spent listening.
Kicking off in the morning show, announce 3 numbers, and listeners are encouraged to use a specially designed bingo card to track the numbers against their own mobile number as they are announced. Continue to announce numbers on air each hour until you get your first caller to have “BINGO” - the person who has all of the numbers in their mobile phone number called out on-air wins (the numbers do not have to be in sequence and can contain any of the announced numbers multiple times).
Play in breakfast and across the workday.
The Rumor File
One of the world’s top testing breakfast benchmarks.
In a world where rumor, scandal and gossip are so sought after, this is a great morning show campaign.
Everyone likes to think they are ''in the know!""
Set time benchmark, twice per week where listeners are encouraged to call up and tell us a rumor they had been exposed to whilst going about their day to day lives.
Another name for this campaign is ''Don't tell us your name, just your secret."
Intervention
Do you know, or work with someone, who has a problem everyone knows about, but no one wants to mention? Well, they're the perfect candidate for ................. Intervention.
Send us the details of someone you think needs an Intervention, and if you're selected, we will take this awkward situation out of your hands, and confront them on air with their problem. Maybe it's letting your Dad know he wears his pants far too high, or having someone inform your boss he has a personal body odour issue (without the downside of you being fired). Whatever it is, you can walk forward in life knowing you did the right thing.Your Name (we need this, but you can request to be anonymous if you like)
Mobile Phone
Work Phone
Their Name
Their Occupation
Their Mobile Phone
Their Work Phone
Issue needing intervention
How long has this been a problem
Is this issue widely known about amongst friends/associates?
Have you ever tried to bring this up before?
The seven deadly sins
The seven deadly sins are;
- Vanity (win a complete makeover or plastic surgery).
- Lust (win a weekend in Paris, or weekend in penthouse suite of local hotel).
- Greed (win money!).
- Envy (live like a star in Hollywood).
- Gluttony (12 month restaurant account).
- Pride (advertising schedule on our radio station to talk about your business being the best of its type).
- Sloth (new lounge suite and home, 3D TV).
Winner could pick from the seven-sins, or you could do one a day.
You could create some great theatre of the mind imaging here.Boost Your Local Business.
Listeners can call the Boost Your Business hotline to register their name.....details of why they should be selected.....name of customer/clients......
Daily in breakfast, one business is selected and phoned by the station.
They then get the opportunity to 'plug' their business on-air for 30 seconds! They also receive some fantastic prizes, and each on-air selected winner goes into the grand prize draw to get the chance to win (say) a 50,000k advertising package for their business.....on the station.
Plenty of versions of this - you will get great credit for doing this kind of campaign in tough economic times.
Inherit Paul's estate
This is a great and unusual campaign that creates talk fast and delivers cume or reach.....plus time spent listening.
Here is the premise:
Paul is a fictitious grass roots local personality and loyal listener who died and left all his worldly goods to your radio station.
His dying wish was to leave all his worldly possessions to the radio station.
''I loved you guys, and I want your listeners to have a reminder of your ultimate fan”.
Using an hourly song formatic with bonus clues via social networking, listeners get to win a piece of the estate. It could be anything you want it to be from houses to cars, guitars, CD’s and even some of the weird, funny stuff.
You need to build the story though. .............the Paul back story is a big part of the campaign.....you talk to Paul's family etc......Build the scenario of Paul's life so listeners relate to this character.
What about an old flame?Outstanding debts? Old school-buddies?
Soap Opera....sure is.
More next week............
