1) You're currently doing the "road warrior" promo tour thing. What's the coolest place you've visited so far?
I'm on my radio promo tour across the entire U.S. this summer, and I must say I especially enjoy the South. I just had a crazy time in New Orleans; it's my favorite city.
2) You've written or co-written all of the songs on your album "Lost In The Lights." What inspired that album title?
The title of my debut record, "Lost in the Lights," has to do with the style and vibe of Lucy Walsh -- very colorful, larger than life and quirky. It's also about diving into life and not being afraid to experience both the good and bad.
3) What songwriters have you co-written with?
I co-wrote with Dan Keyes (YOUNGLOVE), JR Rotem and Evan Bogart, Lester Mendes, and Renee Sandstrom (WILD ORCHID).
4) You've written a LOT of songs. What's your process? Do you have a favorite "place" (physical or mental) that you need to be in to get creative?
I pour my own/others' experiences into my music, and I never know when a song will come to me. I may not write anything for a month, and then all of a sudden write three songs in one day. I always have my recorder and journals with me, even by the bed when I sleep. I sometimes wake up with ideas and have to put them down right away.
5) What would you say are your most played iPod songs right now?
At the moment,: "Fidelity," Regina Spektor; "Feelin' This," Blink 182; "Don't Stop," ATB; "It Ain't Me Babe," the Joaquin Phoenix version and "Don't Cry Out," Shiny Toy Guns. My musical favorites change constantly.
6) You were on Ashlee Simpson's MTV show, and you played keyboards on her tour before launching your own solo career. Any lessons learned from that experience?
Playing keyboards and singing with Ashlee Simpson gave me the experience of being onstage in front of huge crowds. Stage performance takes practice before you get good at it, and now that it's MY show, I'm ready to rock!
7) Despite being the daughter of Classic Rocker Joe Walsh, you've really forged your own career path in the music biz...
To clear up the rumors, yes, my dad is Joe Walsh of the Eagles. He always told me if I wanted to be a musician. he would not pick up the phone and get me a record deal by pulling favors. So I did it on my own, and I thank him for that. He has given me the space to create my own image/sound.
8) Are you collaborating with any other songwriters?
To date, I've written with people all over the world. Joe Firstman, Matthew Wilder, Damone and Matthew Gerard, to name a few. I never stop collaborating!
9) What artist would you LOVE to work with in the future, possibly in a duet?
I'd love to work with Tom DeLonge. (Blink 182/Angels And Airwaves). He is rad. Call me, Tom!
10) Who would you credit as being your biggest musical influences?
My life-long artistic influence has mostly been Cyndi Lauper. She is my earliest memory of loving an artist and her music. I'm inspired by her quirky style and personality ... not to mention her great tunes.
