Please outline your radio career so far:
I began my career back in '99 as an intern at KC 101 in New Haven, CT. My first full-time gig came in January 2001, when Dom Theodore hired me as midday host on the infamous "Power Pig" 933FLZ. After spending almost two years in sunny Florida, I re-located back up north and landed on Q102 in Philly. Ten years later, my career has come full circle, as I'm once again working with my good friend and mentor, Dom Theodore, holding down middays in NYC on the brand new 923 NOW FM.
1) Noooo Yawk city ... skyscrapers and everything ... how you diggin' it?
I LOVE being in NYC. It's absolutely amazing. I walk 50 blocks a day (my choice), and the energy and vibe I get from this city is unreal. It's so inspiring.
2) Have you moved up to the city yet, or are you commuting from Philly?
I live in Bucks County, PA, just outside of Trenton, NJ, and have no plans on moving closer. My train ride is just over an hour. I do my show prep, read the papers or sometimes (okay, most times) just sleep. I don't miss driving at all.
3) So how did the opportunity to join 92.3 Now-FM come about?
A complete surprise. I crossed paths with Gregg Stressel a long time ago, and I was lucky enough that he remembered my name and number.
4) The sign-on must have been a total rush ... what has the initial listener reaction been like?
Surprised, happy, excited, receptive and very welcoming. Now they have a station they can listen to without all the "clutter." We're extremely interactive with our audience. I have a lot of freedom.
5) Dish on the "pamperedwithpaige" website ... I would imagine that "Paige-views" are way up now.
Ha. Pamperedwithpaige.com has definitely seen a boost in page views. Market #1 will do that for ya.
6) How would you describe your first radio gig?
KC101, my hometown station -- I was a definite P1. I used to win the "top 10 at 10" all the time when Kelly Nash was on. Who knew years later he would give me my first on-air gig? Plus, I met my husband there, too, so I guess you could say things worked out.
7) What is your favorite part of the job?
It's all about the listener for me. You talk to these people everyday. They consider you a friend, call you when they're happy/sad, and rely on you to get them through their days. I'm down to a first-name basis with some of these people. It's a bond you form with them. We can all relate to each other in one way or another. Meeting them in person is the icing on the cake. Although when most people meet me, they are shocked to see that I'm blonde. They say I sound like a "brunette" on the air, whatever that means.
8) What is the most challenging part of the job?
The most important thing Dom Theodore ever taught me was when I'm having a crappy day, talk about it. You're not a "DJ;" you're a real person. Talk to that one listener who's sitting in their car like you were sitting next to them.
9) Who would be a "dream guest" to have on your show?
KELLY RIPA. I LOVE her. My goal is to get her on my show. She's off the air at 10a, so there's a shot.
10) Looking back, which years hold the best musical memories for you and who were your favorite acts at that time?
NKOTB, without a doubt. Back in the early '90s, we were all about some Joey McIntyre action. Funny thing is, I got to interview him when they came to Philly back in November. That was a total full circle moment for me.
