BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
- Radio: Z100/New York; K104/Dallas/Ft.Worth & Power 99/Philly.
- TV: CNN New York, WTOC-WSAV/Savannah; WFAA/Dallas-Ft. Worth & WTXF/Philadelphia.
1) How would you describe your first radio gig?
Incredible ... I did late nights on WZAT (Z102) Savannah, GA; Brady McGraw was my PD and Jerry Rogers was the GM. They taught me early on to be myself and entertain! The late Bill "Spanky" McFarland did 6-10p and I did 10p-2a; they used to call us "Savannah Vice Night Time Hit Mmen." The station went #1 12+ (for the first time ever) during our tenure.
2) What led you to a career in radio?
Back in the day, a few of my school buddies used to take our spring break vacations to visit our favorite radio stations ... one of them was WZAT.
3) What makes your station unique? How would you compare it to other stations you've worked at?
Hits 1 is truly a Top 40 station. Some are classified Top 40, but lean heavy Rhythmic; I do believe we are the very first Top 40 to play Taylor Swift. Everyone plays her now, but until Hits 1 started to play her, Taylor could only be heard on Country stations. The brilliance of Kid Kelly and my mash-up bro Ryan Sampson!
4) Are you wearing more "hats" than you have in the past?
Doesn't everyone these days? In addition to being on-air, I also have also been the Music Programming Coordinator for several channels on SiriusXM -- Totally 70s (70s on 7), Big 80s (80s on 8), Sirius Love, Backspin, The Strobe ... I could go on.
5) What is your favorite part of the job?
Working closely with Kid Kelly and working with the Morning Mash-Up crew Rich Davis, Nicole Biggins and Ryan Sampson.
6) What is the most challenging part of the job?
Working with the Morning Mash-Up. I used to be a solo jock ... being a part of an ensemble takes tons of creativity and patience.
7) What artist would we be surprised to find on your iPod?
The Beatles ... love em'.
8) What's one thing that would surprise many people to learn about you?
I have a video/film production company, Bonnie Boy Production. We do music, corporate videos, TV commercials/film. Google Stanley T In Da House ... my company produced it! Music vids on time and on budget ... bbpinchd@gmail.com. Holla.
9) Could you give us a little insight into your on-air staff?
At one time or another, most of us worked for WHTZ (Z100/New York) ... Rich Davis (Mash-Up co-host), Human Numan (Hits 1 middays), Kid Kelly (afternoons), Mikey Piff (Mash-Up producer and late-night host), Spyder Harrison (host of the Weekend Countdown) and me; but back then I called myself Stanley T Evans.
10) What is the one truth that has held constant throughout your career?
The golden rule is quite true ... "treat others the way you wished to be treated."
Bonus Questions
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
A game show host ... The Price Is Right would be nice ... no disrespect to Drew Carey.
