BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started here in Melbourne part-time in '05 ... moved up to full-time nights in '06 and recently was promoted to APD last spring. Also, I voicetrack overnights and weekends in Louisville at 98-9 Radio Now. (Thought Mike Klein might like a shout-out!)
1) What led you to a career in radio?
A promo. I never thought about radio until I heard a promo in '05 made by a good friend, James Steele. It sounded fun, it became fun ... and it still is.
2) Are you wearing more "hats" than you have in the past?
I believe we all are. It's job security ... right?
3) What is your favorite part of the job?
The events. It sounds cliché ... and I'm sure it is. But you get to meet listeners and do stuff that not everyone is doing. Every radio person still hears it: "Oh, it must be cool to be on air!" And it is. I don't think a lot of people realize that we have the easiest and most fun job in the world!
4) What is the most challenging part of the job?
Staying up on fads. I bought an iPhone over the summer only to find out I really need an iPad...
5) What's the coolest promotion you've ever been involved with?
A Kanye "drive-away" promo back in '08. A limo bus full of winners and myself went to Tampa for the Kanye show. (Hidden agenda was to try to meet Rihanna. I did not). But, from execution on air, to promo imaging, and the event, it all dropped in together and was a huge success.
6) What artist would we be surprised to find on your iPod?
Frank Sinatra. Live at the Sands, of course ... dude was good.
7) Who would be a "dream guest" to have on your show?
Seth McFarland ... but just all him as Brian Griffin the whole time. Oh, and to find out what his purpose on ABC's "Flash Forward" was. I think we all deserve that answer.
8) Do you have a favorite hobby outside of radio?
I bought a house a year ago, so sleeping in it. And probably, tweeting.
9) What music do you listen to when you're not working?
Dance ... a lot of dance. "Alos On Danse"
10) What advice you would give people new to the business?
Always, always, always say "yes" to everything and "no" to nothing.
