24-year old Daniel Breland was born in New Jersey, and currently lives in Atlanta.
He grew up in a musical family. His parents were vocalists and ministers. He sang in the local church while in grade school. Citing Stevie Wonder, Ne-Yo and The Dream as a musical influences, he would write and record songs with a schoolmate and post them onto social media. Later, he attended Georgetown University, where he was a member of a coed a cappella group, Georgetown Phantoms.
While attending university, he connected with songwriter/producer Troy Taylor who mentored him for the industry. He dedicated himself to writing and recording a a song a day. In 2018, the Songwriters Hall Of Fame honored Breland with the Curtis Mayfield Scholarship Award - which recognizes promising songwriters.
His single "My Truck" hit #1 on Spotify's Viral 50 in February, but it was recorded last fall. Since December, more than 250k viral videos have featured the song.
