Rozzi Crane was born May 2, 1991 in San Francisco.
She attended the Thornton School Of Music at USC, where songs she'd written were used on the Lifetime TV series "Sins Of The Mother." While in college, she found work as a backup singer for Don Henley and Sergio Mendes.
In 2012, she was signed to (Maroon 5 singer) Adam Levine's label, where she released two EPs and joined the band for their 2013 tour, and again in 2015 as opening act on their US/Canada tour.
She parted ways with Levine's label in 2016 and signed with Columbia Records' imprint Small Giant Records. In 2018 Rozzi released her first album, Bad Together, which spawned the single "Never Over You."
In 2019, S-Curve Records founder Steve Greenberg caught a live show and soon signed her to the label.
"Best Friend Song" is her first single for the label. It was written with collaborators Charlie Snyder (Machine Gun Kelly, Bebe Rexha, G-Eazy) and Zak Waters (Betty Who, JoJo, SHINee), and co-produced by Zak Waters, Steve Greenberg, Michael Mangini and AJR brothers Jack Metzger and Ryan Metzger. The song is a Pop anthem dedicated to lifelong friendship.
“It started as a tribute to my friendship with Tatti, and to make her laugh,” the singer explains. “We lived together for so many years, through college and beyond, but she was moving in with her boyfriend, so I was sad. It was the end of an era. I didn’t want to write a weepy song though. I wanted to do something fun, and never for a moment imagined it would end up being released as my first single. Every line is an inside joke. I didn’t think anyone else would hear it, which is when I often write my best songs. I sang it to embarrass her at a New York show. It’s probably the truest love song I’ve ever written. Tatti was like, ‘It’s gonna be your big hit, because I’m the only one you ever really loved!’ There might be some truth to the second part!”
