Boston-born, New Jersey-raised rapper Coi Leray decided on a career in music while in her teens, inspired by her father, rapper and media mogul Benzino.
Early singles "G.A.N." and "Pac Girl" wound up on her first mixtape, Everythingcoz, released in 2018. After signing with Republic Records, she released her second mixtape, 2019's EC2, which featured the track "Huddy". Her 2020 EP, Now Or Never, featured the song "Slide," a collab with rapper Gunna, Kiana Lede and Sevyn Streeter.
Her 2021 single "No More Parties" reached #26 on the Hot 100. Other singles followed, including a Nicki Minaj collaboration, "Blick Blick". In September, the single, "Twinnem" went viral on TikTok (a remix with DaBaby arrived later in the year). Leray was nominated for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and Best New Artist at the BET Awards in 2021. Her debut studio album, Trendsetter, was released in 2022.
Last November, the rapper released the single "Players," which samples the 1982 Hip Hop classic, "The Message," from Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five.
