Taylor Swift
Apr 25, 2011
The country-pop princess has announced a trek that will take her to 19 countries over four continents and 87 shows. Taylor's Speak Now Tour makes her way to North America this summer. That leg of the tour begins on May 27th and 28th in Omaha, Nebraska, and wraps in Dallas on October 8th.
"Lots, lots of touring, very extensive tour planned. That's also gonna be a worldwide thing, so I'm just completely stoked out of my mind to play the new songs live," Swift said.
"I'm so excited to go back out on tour again in 2011! The Fearless Tour was so much fun and even more unforgettable than I ever imagined, and I can't wait to get back out and play my new music from Speak Now! The fans have been so amazing, and I'm thrilled to play in new cities around the world and meet even more of my fans in 2011!" she says.
The tour is of course based on Swift's new album, called Speak Now . Sales have already been extremely impressive, and she is in now in a race with her sales on Fearless (her last album) to see if she can again anchor a spot in the top 100 albums for a full year.
Speak Now sold over 1 million units during its first week on store shelves, with an even more impressive number of songs from the album charting in the Billboard Hot 100 already. All 14 of her songs on the standard album made it into the Hot 100 already, an amazing statistic no matter how you look at it, and a clear sign that people are really enjoying her new music.
Also Taylor joined Zac Efron by voicing the part of Audrey in the animated adaptation of the children's classic, 'Dr. Seuss' the Lorax', released in March. 'The Lorax' is Taylor's second big film. Her first was last year's 'Valentine's Day.'
Zac lends his voice to the character Ted, an idealistic young boy who is smitten with Taylor's character and strives to find a way to win her affection. In his search he discovers the story of Lorax, a grumpy yet lovable person fighting to save the world.
The 3D film is a project of Universal and Illumination Entertainment. Danny DeVito (who voices the title character), Ed Helms (as Once-ler), and Betty White (as Ted's grandmother, Netty) also star in the film that reunites many players from the 2009 movie 'Despicable Me,' Illumination's first movie. Audrey Geisel, Seuss' widow, serves as executive producer.
