Nicki Minaj's debut studio album Pink Friday, released November 2010, became a commercial success, peaking atop of the U.S. Billboard 200 and being certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) a month after its release. She became the first artist ever to have seven songs on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time.
Her first official single, "Your Love", reached number-one on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart, making Minaj the first female artist to top the chart unaccompanied since 2002. She also became the first female artist to be included on MTV's Annual Hottest MC List. "Super Bass" was released from Pink Friday as the second single in May 2011, the reception of the single was huge after the single charted within the top 10 in the United States.
Nicki is following up the success of "Super Bass" with her latest single "Fly" featuring Rihanna. The track is inspired by the emotion of soaring above and overcoming all stereotypes and negativity, only to have come out victorious. This song gives the listeners a chance to see Nicki's softer side. Following it's release as a single in the U.S., the song reached number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 and continues to grow.
