A GREAT BIG WORLD

Ian Axel is a New Jersey-born singer and composer who grew up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. He moved to New York City after attending NYU.
His song "This Is The New Year" became well-known originally when iTunes selected it as a Discovery Download and for its video on YouTube. Ian's album, named after the title single, was released digitally on February 15, 2011 and on CD on April 12, 2011."This Is The New Year" was used in the opening sequence of Garry Marshall's film New Year's Eve.
Axel partnered with tinyOGRE Entertainment in 2010. That partnership ended when tinyOGRE dissolved their Record Label in December 2011. In 2006 Ian began performing publicly as a solo act. In 2010, Axel's long-time writing partner, Chad Vaccarino, began joining him on stage more frequently and in 2012 they formed the band A Great Big World.
Their song "This Is the New Year" is now gaining a new life by being performed by the cast of Fox's hit TV series Glee. "When we wrote "This Is the New Year," we always said 'this would be perfect for Glee!'" enthuses Chad, "We still can't even believe it's all real."
They've certainly chased their dreams and they're going to continue to do so. But there is something even greater at play. "Writing is our therapy," Ian concludes. "And when we can connect with people through our music, it's transformational. We're not alone. Our songs are your songs. And that's what it's all about."
