Kelly Clarkson

"People Like Us" is the latest song, from Kelly Clarkson's first greatest hits album Greatest Hits: Chapter One (2012). Written by Meghan Kabir, James Michael, Blair Daly, and produced by Greg Kurstin, it will serve as the compilation's third and final single through RCA Records on April 9th.
"People Like Us" is poppy and upbeat, but the biggest draw may be its appeal to the gay community. Reminiscent of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," Clarkson's latest has the potential to become the next gay anthem.
As VH1 points out, the songs are very similar in beat and tempo, but are almost identical when it comes to the themes. While Gaga's "Born This Way" is very straightforward, explicitly referring to members of the LGBT community, Clarkson's song is more subtle.
"We come into this world unknown, but know we are not alone," Clarkson sings in the introduction. "The change is coming, it's our time now."
The single has received generally favorable reviews from critics. Carl Williott of Idolator wrote in a review, ""People Like Us" showcases Kelly's ability to turn frustration into uplifting (and danceable) catharsis. With lines like, "We are all misfits livin' in a world on fire," it's another colossal, fist-in-the-air pop anthem from Clarkson."
Zara Golden of VH1 also noted that "Clarkson is an old expert at spinning hope from hard times and this is the perfect final entry to Clarkson's Chapter One."
