Miley Cyrus
Jun 10, 2013
After months of hyping her fourth studio album, an album that still won't be released until this fall. Miley Cyrus dropped the lead single, "We' Can't Stop" on Monday, June 3, 2013, by RCA Records.
Miley wants to remind us that she's no Disney kid anymore, and "We Can't Stop", produced by Atlanta hip hop guru Mike WiLL Made It, does just that as she sings about a celebrating a night of bad behavior and debauchery with lyrics like "it's our party we can do what we want to," "red cups and sweaty bodies everywhere," and "we can kiss who we want." It's like "Party In The USA," for adults without a care in the world.
Cyrus described the song as "more funky and R&B, pop" than her earlier records, calling it "infectious"; she also said that it is "exactly what I wanted the first sound to be". The song premiered on Ryan Seacrest's show On Air with Ryan Seacrest on June 3, 2013.
It is expected to hit the Billboard Hot 100 singles by the end of the week June 9, 2013 with predicted sales of 180,000 to 200,000. On the first day, the song sold 55,000 copies on iTunes; second day, 34,000; third day, 26,000, according to Digital Sales Data.
Within 5 days of the audio track release, the official Vevo video had garnered over 6 million views and around 110,000 likes.
