The Drake Thank Me Later (Universal Motown-release June 15th) leak has put one of the most anticipated albums of Summer 2010 out for free on the internet. Although Drake's first full-length album isn't due out for about two more weeks, the R&B/rap musician's "Thank Me Later" LP has leaked. Album download torrents have appeared on the internet as early as June 1st, but reportedly Drake isn't too heated over the news.
The singer responded to the news of the Thank Me Later leak online saying:
"I gave away free music for years, he tweeted, alluding to the numerous mixtapes he made available for free download. So Far Gone, his stellar 2009 tape, was the offering that made him a favorite amongst hip-hop's new class. "So we're good over here," he continued. "Just allow it to be the soundtrack to your summer and ENJOY! JUNE 15th!" (EW.com)
There's been plenty of rap albums leaked for years now, and it's never been particularly good for the record sales that follow them. Only one recent instance, Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter III saw sales of 1,000,000 copies in just the first week when it was on sale.
Still, Drake seems to be putting out some pretty good music including the Kanye West produced single "Find Your Love". On the upcoming album he's enlisted Lil' Wayne, Jay-Z, and Alicia Keys among other guests, with Kanye West and Timbaland among the production talent.
