WZYP Gives Tornado Ravaged Community A Second Christmas
CUMULUS Top 40 WZYP (104.3 WZYP)/HUNTSVILLE, AL recently held a toy drive, designed to bring joy to children, whose communities were devastated by tornadoes that ravaged areas of the south on DECEMBER 10. With the help of listeners, who donated over 2000 toys at a JANUARY 11 collection event, PD/afternoon host STEVE SMITH, morning host MOJO and HUNTSVILLE Toys For Tots coordinator, BOBBY RAY, provided families in those areas with an 'extra' CHRISTMAS! The toys were loaded into a truck and delivered to two of the hardest hit towns, DAWSON SPRINGS and MAYFIELD, KY. SMITH said "It's been over a month since the tornadoes hit and the national media attention has faded, but there are still great needs in these towns. The WZYP team was glad to do our part to make some kids smile. It was such a great feeling to roll into the towns in our station truck knowing we were about to provide some much-needed happiness!"
