BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I like to eat food and this was the best way to get free food ... actually ... started over 15 years ago as an intern in Omaha with friend Connie and bounced around like everyone else ... owed money by a scammy owner like everyone else ... now working the best job I have ever had with more freedom then I have ever had ... LOVING RADIO!!!
1. Why Radio?
Why not? Where else can you be yourself (hopefully) ... be goofy and wear whatever you want to work? I like spandex it makes me feel like I am in a hot dog casing.
2. To date, what is the highlight of your radio career?
OH GOOD LORD!!! There really are so many. From after 9/11 to Phoneathons raising money to Cure Cancer to Elfie at Christmas to joking around on the air and working people up. Lately, it really has been working for my new station (Midwest Family Broadcasting). I have never worked for a company that takes better care of it's employees while also letting them be creative. This is the radio I had always heard about but never seen. I am not just blowing smoke here it really is the real deal!!!
3. About your co-host Ashley...as far as you know, when is Ashley the most happy?
NO BRAINER!!!! When she works with me ... actually it would be when she can bust into song "LION KING" or something like that or talk about her favorite subject .... ASHLEY
4. If you weren't hosting a morning show, would you consider yourself a "morning" person?
NO NO NO!!!! I love staying up late and am truly a NIGHT PERSON!!!
5. When you've had a rough day, what do you do to get back to your happy place?
A naughty website, booze, and Taco Bell ... or just work on the show. I am having a blast right now planning new stuff and working on my patience while we build the show to where it's going to be.
6. What would you like to do more of on the air?
We have a plan for where we are going to be and as Ashley and I develop our chemistry and build the show we can't be there yet. I am looking forward to the finished product within the next year!
7. Think back to being a 10 year-old. What did you want to be when you grew up?
A stripper but I was fat. I really did want to work in Hollywood behind the scenes but radio will do fine.
8. When you listen to the radio...what's your biggest pet peeve?
Cheesy jocks!!! Can't stand when people aren't real.
9. You came to Jamz from a long stint across town. Was it difficult to walk into a new studio ready to take on your former station?
WOW!!! Going up against Connie knowing this project was going to be a lengthy one was a little hard. Connie got me into this business and was the best mentor anyone could ask for and is a huge talent. As far as going up against Z104 that wasn't really much of a worry. I am working for a patient company that embraces talent and has provided WELL BEYOND what I could ask for, they make it fun here while being supportive.
10. What do you think is the most important thing you're parents gave you that prepared you for morning radio?
My parents are weird people with a unique sense of humor ... plus my mother is very big breasted and I am sure that helped somehow.
Bonus Questions
If you were to leave Radio today and you could choose any other occupation, what would it be?
Maybe the agent thing. I love to talk contracts (ask my old GM) as well as putting together deals. I am always willing to help people with ideas. I have no complaints about the deals I have negotiated (but if I did I would yell at myself and that is a little too much even for me).
If you could only watch one movie, one TV show and listen to one CD, for a year, which ones would you choose?
Can't answer this one ... because I need more ... I AM SPONGE!!! I would go nuts ... I think I would just curl up in a ball and sing weird songs to myself like "here I am curled up in a ball ... da da da da da" (hey I talk into the music, I don't write it!!!).
