BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started interning in Detroit for the craziest guy in the game, Tic Tak at WKQI. Did that for a summer, then Brent Carey, Eric Chase, and Josh Garber spent some time with me letting me learn the basics doing PT in Toledo, OH at WTWR. The next move was to get on the air all week... I was able to pick up nights on a part time basis at WRCL in Flint (S/O to Nate Reed & Clay Church).
8 months later came Fresno... Jerry Clifton and Greg Mack put together a project known as "Radiodorm", having the jocks live together with webcams all over our house and radio station for listeners to keep up with. The concept was ahead of it's time but boy did I learn a lot. That station blew up after a year so it was back to Detroit I went, with a plan. I was able to get back in the WKQI building and get on the air PT. Dom Theodore, Beau Daniels, and Chunky took a lot of time molding me into a major market Air Personality and Programmer.
After rocking PT in Detroit for about 2 years, New York called. We launched 92.3 NOW with a bang and a crazy line up! I spent 3 years learning the ins & outs of NYC. Not the NYC you might know, the one that's still open at 3am because I was doing late nights.
Once my deal was up and I realized none of the original cast was staying... It was time for something else. Dan Hunt and Beth Kent snatched me up pretty quickly for their "Re-Wire" of the legendary WRDW (Wired 96.5)! A year later we've completely renovated this station inside and out. As a team, we couldn't be more proud of the state of Wired!
1. What got you into radio?
I got grounded from everything when I was 12. I sat in my room bored until I discovered that radio had killer night shows. I started listening and calling in religiously. I've been hooked since.
2. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Rich.
3. What's the first question you'd ask Miley Cyrus in an on-air interview?
Since Hannah Montana had dolls, will there be a line of "Twerking Miley" action figures?
4. You grew up Detroit. How are Philadelphia and Detroit similar?
Grimey. I love Philly because sometimes it reminds me so much of Detroit. The further you get away from the city the nicer and more suburban it is. The people in the market are similar to Detroit in the sense of attitude and pride for their hometown.
5. What was your first clear sign of how passionate Philadelphians are?
When I watched that video on YouTube of the Flyers' fans beating that dude's ass.
6. In one, short sentence, what makes Wired 96.5 special?
We have our own Ice Cream Truck!
7. If you could be a superhero, who would you be? Who do you think your boss, Dan Hunt would be?
I would be Wolverine... cause chicks are on his nuts!
Dan would probably be Magneto, so he could take my mic from me using telekinesis during a long break and stop me from talking too much.
8. What do you like to do in your spare time?
What is this spare time you speak of? We go so hard over here that when we're not working, we're resting for the next big festival, concert, or remote.
9. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
I'd like to host Price Is Right when I'm old. That'd be dope holding that skinny microphone!
10. Who would Hollywood cast to star in the Buster Satterfield story?
My boy DiCaprio! But he's gonna have to stop shaving so much and start eating Cheetos and stuff.
Bonus Questions
What's your idea of a perfect Philadelphia date?
A girl from Jersey. Lol
Your favorite Philadelphia meal, so far?
