BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
Growing up I was "That Listener," that you could count on to call in almost daily. I thought radio was just the best job EVER! Come to find out it is! At the age of 14, I started my career in radio as an intern at my local station in Palm Springs. From there I learned the ropes of radio. At age 16, I got my first on-air shift from 6a-10a on Saturdays. Then one day became two days, and now here I am MD/ On-Air Midday 10a-3p. Started from the bottom now I'm here... literally!
1. What got you into radio?
I also had a certain infatuation with radio and music. I was always calling my local station and one day I can in to pick up a prize and the next thing I know I had an internship with U-92.7
2. You went from intern to music director. When did you begin to think you'd make a career out of radio?
I never really knew anything besides radio (considering it was my first job) it played such a big part my life. Most kids in high school are trying to figure out what they want to be! I not only already knew what I wanted to be; I was already starting my career in radio and haven't stopped growing ever since!
3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little I wanted to be on stage. I wanted to perform for people. I really wanted to be a singer; but I can't hold a note to save my life!! The crazy thing is that radio has provided me with a stage and platform of my own.
4. Palm Springs is a very unique market. What do you think would surprise a newcomer to Palm Springs?
Palm Springs is very unique place for sure. I feel that the biggest misconception is that since Palm Springs is so close to LA, people think that the markets would be similar. But, that is so un-true. Palm Springs and the rest of the Coachella Valley really is its own culture.
5. You have a new boss. Do you call him 'Lugnut' or 'Scott'?
Yes. Scott is Great! (he paid me to say that) lol... but, I switch off between Scott and Lugnut. Sometimes I call him my 'White Jesus' which is an inside joke with a little help from Kanye.
6. What's your favorite song on the station right now?
Right now I'm obsessed with the new Eminem and Rihanna - The Monster. I think they make a great combo.
7. You're a hip hop fan. What would be your favorite live hip hop show?
Yes. I do love me some hip-hop. I always enjoy Rock the Bells each year, but the best concert of my life was Jay-Z and Kanye live at the Staples Center for Watch the Throne!
8. What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to go to shows (there is nothing like live music) and I'm always trying to find new music. I spent a lot of time online and on my blog: beautieandthebeat.com
9. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
I hate to admit this but I'm obsessed with Love and Hip-Hop ATL! It's so bad it's good, and I would be on it solely for the purpose to find out if Stevie J is really as creepy in person. Lol.
10. What sound on your alarm clock wakes you up?
I set 3 alarms each night for 7:30a, 7:40a and 7:45a... and they are all a loud buzzer.
Bonus Questions
Beer and pizza or sushi and sake?
Pizza and Vodka! I don't eat seafood or drink beer.
What's your 'Saturday night out at a club' drink of choice?
I keep it simply with a Vodka Cran.
