BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I've been in the radio business for 12 years, 9 of them being a fulltime personality. I've done nights, middays and afternoons for JAMZ 96.3. On top of doing a live on-air shift, I'm the Assistant Program Director and Imaging Director of WAJZ and I do all the imaging for WYJB (B95) and WINU (WIN 1049). I'm also a producer of a New York State Broadcasters Association Annual Award for Excellence in Broadcasting for Best Public Service Announcement/Campaign: B95.5 Make-A-Wish!
1. What got you into radio?
I never knew radio was a real option until my senior year of high school. That's when I noticed I could go to school for Broadcast Journalism and was like 'yeah, that's for me.' I've always liked connecting with people and sharing my love of music and sports with them so I couldn't think of a better 'job' than being an on-air DJ. I kind of just fell into it.
2. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was a kid I wanted to be an astronaut. I've always been fascinated with outer space and aliens and really thought I'd be traveling around the galaxy at intergalactic speeds when I was older. I'm still willing to travel around the galaxy at intergalactic speeds if NASA or Elon Musk will have me. ha
3. What's your Winter 2017 snowfall prediction for Albany? Measuring in feet or yards?
I've lived in the Albany area my entire life and when I was a kid we use to get tons of snow but that's not the case anymore. For example, my cousins that live in Virginia got a couple inches of snow the other day and I could still see my lawn here in New York. I would say we'll get 2-3 feet of snow this year. It's still extremely cold though.
4. How serious are you about softball?
I would like to say I just play for fun and I don't care about the outcome of the game but that all changes when I start playing. It's something I've been doing years now and it keeps me active. Baseball is my favorite sport so I'll probably be playing for years to come.
5. What would probably surprise most people about Albany?
That's a tough one. Maybe the variety of restaurants throughout the city. There's a little bit of everything for you to enjoy.
6. What's your favorite song on the station right now?
It's a toss-up between MGK x Camila Cabello 'Bad Things' and Travis Scott 'Goose Bumps'
7. If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?
I would like to think I would be doing something in music. I've been playing guitar forever so hopefully I'd be that guy on tour with a band tuning all their instruments. I've never really had a plan b or thought about what I would be doing if I weren't in radio.
8. You handle imaging for Jamz. If you had to choose between being on the air of imaging, which would you choose?
I have fun on-air and hosting a show every day but my strength is production. I would prefer to just be doing imaging. I love the creative side behind imaging a station and the challenge of connecting with the listener through an element that plays between songs on the station.
9. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I play softball from April to November. I also play a lot of different instruments so I find myself playing music all the time.
10. What excites you about walking into the building every morning to get to work?
The fact that I get to be creative everyday keeps me coming back for more. Everything from producing promos to on-air topics. I just need to be creative and this is perfect outlet for me.
Bonus Questions
If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
If they brought back Road Rules I would be all about that. I would need to be on a reality show that has a lot of games and challenges throughout it. I couldn't deal with being on a reality show with nonstop drama.
If you had to eat one type of meal every day for a month, what would it be?
That's easy. Mexican! That's basically all I eat all ready so the transition to eating just Mexican would be super easy.
