10 Questions with ... Hayley Smith-Rose

BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:

My radio career began as a newsroom intern at WXKD (KISS 108)/Boston. From there, I took on the role as Promotions Director at WFMX (107.9 The Mix). In May 2015, I started at WHTP as the Promotions and Traffic Director, and, since then, my role as evolved into Assistant Program Director.

1. What got you into radio?

What really got me into radio was my internship with KISS 108. In college, I was a music business major who wasn't really sure what avenue I wanted to go down. I decided to try out radio to see if it would be a good fit. I ended up becoming so amazed by it and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of!

2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?

A rockstar. Still workin' on it.

3. Best couple of words to describe yourself?

Kind and Foxy

4. Favorite thing about living and working in Portland?

Ooh so many things! The food is almost too good. It's a city, but still it's impossible to walk down the street and not see someone you know (this is in the negative column only sometimes). Being near the ocean, even though this is probably one that I often take for granted. Oh, and the beer. How could I almost forget the beer?

5. What excites you more being on-air or the work you do in the programming of Hot 104.7?

Both are totally, equally exciting in different ways! I love being on air because it allows me to connect with listeners and express my charisma and wild side. Programming is amazing because it allows me to delve more into the business side.

6. Celebrity crush?

The Hemsworths and Megan Fox. And maybe a little Ray Romano.

7. If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?

Hopefully something in music! Either working with a record label or being someone's backup dancer. Maybe a rockstar.

8. We know your radio job keeps you very busy but what do you like to do in spare time you have?

I watch a lot of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and horror movies. I also dance and have recently picked up DJing! If you're trying to get down to Dancing Queen, I'm your girl.

9. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?

It's honestly one of my lifelong dreams to be on a game show, so with that being said, beggars can't be choosers. Family Feud would be top notch, though. Also holding out hope to land a spot in The Real World house, hopefully when they're somewhere warm!

10. You can only watch one...The Voice or American Idol?

Hands down, The Voice. Overall, I just like the concept better and I got love for ANYTHING Gwen Stefani is involved with.

If you had to eat one type of meal every day for a month, what would it be?

Wow that's a tough one because I love food more than most things. I suppose I would have to choose Italian because I'm not sure I could survive in a world without spaghetti and meatballs.
