10 Questions with ... Chris Fonseca

1. What got you into radio?

When I was 17 years old I landed a weekend gig spinning in a club in Corpus Christi. It so happened that Hot Z95 was doing a live broadcast from there. After a few months of spinning live on the air, the PD at the time, Ed Ocanas, invited me to the Z95 studio to check it out. I fell in love instantly and shortly thereafter I was invited to start off as an intern. I worked my way up from there.

2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?

It was always my dream to be a radio mix show DJ or a tour DJ. Ever since I was about 2 years old I've been spinning records. It was my passion and it still is to this day.

3. What's the best thing about living and working in Corpus Christi?

It is such a beautiful city with an amazing community. There is so much beauty and talent in this city; it makes me proud to be among the many out here accomplishing their dreams. The best thing about working in this city is that I not only get to give my best to Corpus Christi, but also the many surrounding cities who catch our signal. My goal is to inspire and motivate others and this radio station gives me that platform to do so.

4. Do you have a favorite travel spot?

My favorite travel spot would have to be Atlantis in the Bahamas. The scenery is gorgeous, the food is delicious and their water park is one of the best!

5. Who is the best dancer on the staff and who dances the most in the studio?

Our morning co-host Erika has to be the best dancer in our crew. She makes up her own dance moves in the studio and yes, her moves rock. As for the one who dances the most in the studio? That would have to be me. Thank goodness no one else can see, cause my dance moves are far from impressive. Does twerking count?

6. If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?

If I wasn't in radio I would definitely be doing something in production. I used to produce records when I was younger, so I'm pretty good in a studio. I also have a DJ business to fall back on so that's always a good thing. I strive to learn as much as I can cause you never know what lies in the future.

7. What do you like to do in spare time you have?

Two things I love to do in my spare time would have to be reading and meditating. Reading helps me learn more to better myself. Meditating clears my mind and gives me the space to focus on my goals.

8. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?

Jersey Shore Family Vacation just so I could ask the cast members if their hangovers are worse now that their older.

9. What excites you when you're on the air?

The fact that when I crack that mic, I get to inspire, make people laugh and bring joy to our listeners.

10. If you had to eat one type of meal every day for a month, what would it be?

Vietnamese PHO SHO!

Your "go to" romantic spot in Corpus Christi?

My 'go to' romantic spot is anywhere by the Bayfront watching the waves crash up against the rocks. We live in a dazzling city!
