BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started as an intern at WILD 107 in San Francisco and when I graduated college, Michael Martin hired me as a programming and promotion assistant. I worked there for several years (into WILD 949). I eventually made the move to Interscope Records in Los Angeles working for Nino Cuccinello. A year later, I had an amazing opportunity to move back to SF and become the regional for Warner Bros. Records. I stayed at Warner Bros. for over 10 years working both in San Francisco and eventually in Los Angeles. After Warner Bros., another unique opportunity presented itself with Sony ATV Publishing and Jody Gerson. From there, Danny Buch at SONY/RED hired me and here we are!
1. It's been awhile but what made you make the move from radio to records?
I loved working for Michael Martin and my hometown radio station. I was working with labels daily on events for WILD 107/94.9. Through that, I developed lasting relationships with all of the promo reps. Eventually, I just decided to take a leap and make the move to LA. I interviewed with several labels and as soon as I met with Nino at Interscope, I knew it was the right fit!
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
First it was to be on Broadway as a singer/dancer and then I wanted to be a forensic psychologist, until I realized how much math I needed to take in college. That quickly fell apart! lol! Music was always my passion so I knew it would eventually lead there somewhere.
3. You're a Bay Area native that's been living in Los Angeles for many years now. Is L.A. home now?
Lol....well San Francisco will always be home but I love living in LA! I've been here 12 years now, I think. Time flies!
4. What's the biggest difference between life in Los Angeles versus life in the Bay Area?
Aside from the weather, SF just has an energy that LA can't match. Plus, it's a true city!
5. What's the first RED related thing you do in the morning?
Check emails, Mediabase and drink lots of coffee.
6. You also worked on the music publishing side for a while. What led to that and what was your "takeaway" from the experience?
After WBR, the opportunity to work at Sony ATV Publishing for Jody Gerson presented itself. I knew nothing about publishing but it felt like the right move. I had never worked for a female before and I couldn't have asked for a better mentor. I was able to learn from her and the best A&R's in the business and try to soak everything in
