BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
Started on WLLD Street team and kept working my way up
1. What got you into radio?
To make a long story short, hangin' with a friend got me into radio. A friend of mine, named Red Dawn, directed me toward radio. She and I were talking about doing a cookout and I want to have it blasted on the radio. She said, "Well, go to the radio station and find out how we can get it done." That's when I met Special Ed and Busta Nuts at teen party...and here I am.
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
Honestly, I didn't have dreams to be anything. I just wanted to be out of the country and get to the city to find a 9 to 5 job. Office clerk type of job, too. I was tired of doing outside work in that Texas heat.
3. You were born in Texas and moved to Tampa/St. Petersburg. Is the Bay home now? Miss anything about Texas?
Tampa is home but my family will always have my heart back in Texas.
4. What makes Tampa and WLLD special to you?
It's my home from away home. The people that I've met here have had nothing but open arms to me. And for Wild to put me in this situation, or should I say lifestyle of mine, has given me the opportunity to shake hands and become friends with genuine people.
5. What would probably surprise most people about Tampa and the Bay Area?
How we party every day of the week. There is always something going on in the nightlife, and I'm all here for it. Lackkuh Time!!
6. You've done just about everything at WLLD. Stifler, you're partner in The Nuthouse, also started on the Street Team. Is that important to developing a true sense of what the radio station is?
Yes, there are so many people you meet on a daily basis that you really get a feel for the station's audience.
7. Now that the statute of limitations is likely to have expired, what's the worst thing you were guilty of as a Street Team member?
Man, there are too many to name; but, oh well, here we go with this one. During my Big Mama and Wild Bunch days, while on the streets, I jumped out of the limo we were in one night and kicked a dent into an 'FLZ vehicle. Radio wars were real life back then.
8. If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?
I'd probably be working at Blue Cross Blue Shield. Manager style with an office window, bored as hell. NOT!!
9. What do you like to do in your spare time?
You know just fishing and gym time...lol. Man, that is not your boy! I'm watching TV shows or movies. And kicking it with night life peeps.
10. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
Don't do reality because mine's way too real! So, let's go with Family Feud. Let's beat the other family or other station.
Bonus Questions
How would your boss, Orlando, describe your radio skill set?
Full of energy, fun, and you never know what you're going to get out of this kid's mouth. "Probably one of the best hires ever."
If you had to eat one type of meal every day for a month, what would it be?
You can call me Garfield, it's LASAGNA all day!!
Looking at your radio career to this point, what are you most proud of?
Man, there are so many proud moments, but the best one is that I get to share it with my work wifey, Stiffy. Coming up the ranks with my homie, and a lot of others, makes every proud moment a great, shareable moment.
