BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
Been the host of the "Greg and Dre Morning Show" for the last 18 plus years. Been a Program Director the past 17 years, most notably a decade at KBOS/Fresno and the last five years programing KSEQ (Q97.1)/Fresno.
1. What got you into radio?
As a kid, I loved listening to the radio. I was always interested talking on the air. In high school, I got my first gig reading the daily bulletin to the school. After college radio, this guy named Pete Jones took a chance on me an gave me a job at KHTN!
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
A radio play-by-play sportscaster.
3. Fresno has been home for 25 years now. What do you think has been the most significant chance in the city?
The city continues to grow and spread out. Since I have been here, two new freeways have be put in and it seems there is a new school opening every year.
4. What would probably surprise most people about Fresno?
Most of the food you eat, probably was grown/produced in Fresno and the surrounding counties.
5. You morning show is now on at Lotus' new station in Bakersfield. Are you also programming Q92.1?
Yes, the decision to launch the radio station was green lighted by our CEO in June. My team and I were able to move quickly and launch on July 22nd. I will continue as Program Director moving forward.
6. If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?
I pursued my teaching credential at Fresno St. and did some teaching while I was starting my radio career. I think I would be back in the classroom. I really enjoy teaching.
7. What do you do with all of that spare time you have? Seriously, do you have any hobbies?
I love to play soccer. I still play in leagues. I'm also the announcer for our professional soccer team, Fresno FC.
8. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
Jeopardy...I love trivia games.
9. You're a programming veteran. What advice would you share with someone just getting started in programming/management?
Be a teacher. I fear radio is not developing the talent that will benefit the industry in the future. So do your part and develop the people that work under you. It will improve your radio station, help them and the process will make you better, as well.
10. What secret bomb would your morning partner, Dre drop about you?
Haha! Too many to count! But,he loves to point out how cheap I am. I rarely use my A/C in the summer. It gets really hot in Fresno during the summer, so he like to refer to my house as a health hazard. lol
Bonus Questions
If you had to eat one type of meal every day for a month, what would it be?
If I had to? I already eat the exact same thing for breakfast and lunch every day. Plain oatmeal and water in the morning (never coffee). Lunch is two Taco Bell $1 menu tostadas, remove all the sauce and replace the refried beans with black beans, plus an unsweetened iced tea. I'm a creature of habit! haha
