BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I moved to Sussex County, DE in 1999. I started my first radio gig in 2005 with Great Scott Broadcasting (103.9)
I've also worked for WBOC-TV (Fox 21) and now currently employed with The Voice Radio Network (Power 101.7)
1. What got you into radio?
A quick funny story... I was listening to 103.9 (driving my son to school) There was a female and two males on the morning show. I didn't hear the female that week. So, being nosey, I sent an email. "Hey, Where's the female? You need a female." The station responded and said she was no longer with the company. Of course, I came back with, "Let me do it!" The rest is history! I interviewed and began the following week. I remember my first morning, putting the headphones on and talking into the mic! I was hooked!
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
I wanted to be a singer or a TV reporter.
3. What would surprise people about living and working in Ocean City?
This is considered a "resort town". I'm blessed to live and work where people come to vacation! I'm living the dream. We have some great beaches, boardwalks, restaurants, casino's and seafood! Even though I live here. I act and do things like I'm a tourist! LOL! I'm always ready for a hotel stay and always adventuring!
4. During the pandemic I learned _________?
I learned to cook more! That didn't last long. We had to get creative on finding things to do around the house. We attempted to work on projects, some organizing, painting, etc. Thank goodness things are getting "back to normal".
5. Learn anything new about yourself during the pandemic?
You learn not to take the little things for granted. You realize things you can't have and how much you miss them! Concerts, sporting events, Going into a stadium, etc. This has all been a learning experience.
6. Did you pick up any new hobbies or interests over the past year?
During the pandemic I was able to set up a home studio for a TV show called Studio J that I host.
7. What from the pandemic would you like to see continue post-pandemic?
I think the way we use technology to shop, pick up deliveries, curbside, etc. It's very convenient!
8. Your dream non-radio gig?
Having a cabana boy feed me chocolate covered strawberries and appletini's while lying in a hammock in The Florida Keys! A woman can dream right?
9. Hypothetical situation...You're 17 and leaving to spend a year abroad as an exchange student. Where would you want to go and is it different now than at 17?
I would want to study abroad in Italy. It would be the same today! I'd visit Rome, Venice, and Milan.
10. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
TV Reality show would be Marrying Millions, Love is Blind or Temptation Island. Game Show: Family Feud with Steve Harvey as the host!
Bonus Questions
You -vs- Bill:
Better cook: He will say that he's hands down better "on the grill". I'll give him that! But in the kitchen, I will probably beat him out. He says my food is DRY! I disagree!
Healthiest: Bill Baker! He has made a complete life style change and is eating healthier and working out! I'm the type of person that can eat whatever I want and not gain weight! I eat out A LOT! I do squats (sometimes)
Better with money: I'm not sure. We don't really discuss money often. He calls me "Big Money" and I tease him and say the same! He drinks Godiva coffee, though! So, maybe he's managing his money better than me!
Most patient: DEFINITELY ME! Hands down! Without a DOUBT! Bill has NO patience!
If you had to eat one type of meal every day for a month, what would it be?
It would be Puerto Rican food! There are not many restaurants that I can get that, so my second choice will be Mexican...authentic Mexican. Not Taco Bell! haha!
